Technical Engineering Consultants is Hiring a Facility / Process Engineer Near Gretna, LA

POSITION SUMMARY

Facility/Process Engineer – Perform process and/or mechanical design of oil and gas onshore/offshore production, transmission, and distribution facilities, including new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing terminals, platforms and pipelines.

EDUCATION

- BS degree or higher in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Familiarity with engineering and design requirements for projects associated with oil and gas production facilities and equipment installations, including regulatory compliance (BSEE, USCG, ABS, DNV) as well as applicable codes and standards (CFR, API, ASME, NFPA)
  • Experience with developing sizing calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and data sheets associated with oil and gas production facilities including equipment, instrumentation, and specialty piping items
  • Requires experience performing and documenting engineering studies associated with oil and gas production facilities.
  • The ability to travel to client sites, both onshore and offshore
  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels

EXPERIENCE

Requires five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in engineering design and/or project management of oil and gas and/or industrial facilities.

Experience in performing walkdown of Flow Schematics, Piping & Instrument Diagrams, Equipment Layouts, Piping Plans.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word & Microsoft Office Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Working knowledge/familiarity with the following is a plus:

o Pipe-Flo Advantage – Hydraulic Simulation

o Caesar II – Pipe Stress Analysis

o ProMax/Hysis – Process Simulation

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoDesk TrueView, and NavisWorks Freedom a plus.

SAFETY TRAINING

Training and credentials required (already or willing to obtain thru TEC):

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Basic Orientation Plus Safety Class
  • Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Occasionally travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments Site visits, both onshore and offshore, to gather existing data/details and survey available space and infrastructure to support facility upgrades, modifications, or remediation.
  • Ability to walkdown oil/gas facilities creating flow schematics by redlining or sketching from scratch. Follow through with drafting department to CAD redlines/hand sketches into useable record drawings back in the office. 
  • Coordinate/interface effectively with a wide diversity of personnel with varying technical backgrounds including engineers, designers, vendors, and management.
  • Develop, Design, and/or review

o P&IDs, mechanical flow sheets, and safety flow diagrams.

o Regulatory submittals (e.g. BSEE, USCG, and ABS).

o Engineering studies

o Liquid and gas Piping system.

o Process design basis details and documentation

  • Perform and/or review

o Process/mechanical engineering studies (i.e. de-bottlenecking, vent/relief, hydraulic analysis, pipe stress,

API 14C compliance, firewater/deluge, material selection) and develop associated reports and spreadsheets.

o Sizing calculations for process and utility equipment, piping, in-line instruments, valves, and pipelines using

available tools

o process simulations and develop process flow diagrams with associated heat and material balance tables.

o Process Hazards Analysis and Risk Identification.

  • Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and/or Detailed Engineering for Greenfield or Brownfield design projects for onshore and/or offshore facilities.
  • Design of process (production separation, sour production sweetening, oil and gas dehydration, produced water treatment, export metering) and/or utility (fuel gas, chemical injection, instrument air, diesel, heat medium, cooling, drainage, power generation) systems.
  • Design and Vendor interface for static (pressure vessels, tanks) and rotating (pumps, compressors, engines) equipment packages.
  • Prepare, modify and/or review data sheets and technical specifications for process equipment, instruments, manual and actuated valves, piping systems, specialty items, etc. to meet specific project requirements.
  • Provide on-site, both onshore and offshore, construction, commissioning, startup and operational assistance.
