JOB TITLE: Outdoor Camp Educator

We are in search of passionate outdoor camp educators to be a part of our 2024 summer camp.

Our camps involve groups of 20-30 kids aged 5-12. As an educator, you will guide them through a diverse range of survival skills and activities, ensuring that each lesson can bring happiness and knowledge to the camp. These include wilderness survival, hiking, shelter building, plant identification, bow drills, animal tracking, rescue techniques, nature science, and various sports games. A significant part of this role is designing curriculums that seamlessly combine fun, science, innovation, and creativity with knowledge from different aspects. This role not only demands a robust knowledge of natural science but also involves educating children about the environment. Activities predominantly take place at off-site recreational areas, including several local parks. A crucial aspect of this job is to impart knowledge on natural and marine science while ensuring the kids have an unforgettable and enriching outdoor experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and Implement Curriculum: Craft and deliver comprehensive camp programs that combine fun, science, innovation, and creativity, ensuring that children aged 5-12 experience both happiness and learning. Programs should infuse knowledge from various aspects.
  • Leadership: Lead day events at various locations with groups of up to 15 campers. A teaching assistant will assist on-site, ensuring the delivery of happiness and knowledge to the camp environment.
  • Education and Recreation: Offer high-quality educational and recreational experiences. These experiences should not only impart knowledge but also ensure camp participants have an enjoyable time. Curriculums should harmoniously blend natural and marine sciences with elements of creativity and innovation.
  • Active Participation: Organize and participate in a diverse range of camp programs, from outdoor sports to traditional camp games and rituals. Each activity should weave in elements of fun, learning, science, and creativity.
  • Professional Collaboration: Collaborate as part of a dynamic staff team, playing an active role in the evaluation of campers, programs, and fellow staff members. Contributions will be instrumental in refining programs that blend fun, science, and knowledge in innovative ways.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 20 years old with a genuine passion for working with children.
  • A Bachelor's degree in History, Literature, Biology, Science, Education, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Prior experience leading youth groups.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred before the start of camp. Those with Wilderness First Aid or higher qualifications receive additional compensation.
  • Candidates with extensive camping experience will be given preference.
  • Extensive experience with Boy Scouts is a significant plus.
  • Previous experience working in summer camps or outdoor camps is highly valued.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with children.
  • At least 2 years of experience in outdoor, nature science, or sports coaching.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
