Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Plant Controller is responsible for the preparation and implementation of financial guidelines for the plant.

The primary responsibility will be to establish individual employee goals, department objectives, key operating procedures, and long or short-term financial forecasts. The Controller will also approve all plant expenses and appropriations requests.

GENERAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor review and maintain the Quality Management Systems.

2. Establish short-term and long-term forecasts.

3. Prepare and review weekly and monthly financial results

4. Manage fixed assets

5. Monitor and assist with productive and non-productive inventories

6. Monitor capital and capital projects

7. Direct/support departments with goals, objectives, development requirements and annual reviews.

8. Approve plant expenses and appropriations requests

9. Establish and maintain key operating procedures and all required journal entries and accruals.

10. Complete month-end and year-end closings of the financial records

11. Support procedures to supply accurate numbers and reports

12. Responsible for BOS compilation, financial slides, and corrections.

13. Maintain and administer all governmental tax credits such as Renewal Community and Enterprise zone and all governmental grants.

14. Distribute and manage petty cash

15. Maintain relationships with outside auditors, vendors, financial institutions, and taxing authorities.

16. Develop and recommend operating policy and procedures pertaining to accounting activities, and instruct other management of their application and interpretation.

17. Customer billings and invoicing

18. Balance sheet reconciliations

19. Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

RELATIONSHIPS

A. Reports to: Plant Manager

B. Supervises: None

C. Internal: All Plant Level Staffing

D. External: Corporate & All Other Facility Staff, Customers, Vendors and Contractors.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

2. High degree of confidentiality

3. High degree of understanding and cooperation with others.

4. Accounting experience within the automotive or manufacturing industry, preferred.

5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

SCOPE AND IMPACT OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The position is essential to the financial viability of the facility and the future growth and stability of Louisiana Operations. Maintain ethical or professional conduct to preserve integrity and prevent loss.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Moderate standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. on occasion. Requires some telephone usage and ability to use personal computer and basic office equipment such as fax machine/copier, etc. Good eye/hand coordination. Must be able to work in close proximity of high temperature molds and materials. Repetitive motion of arms, hands, and shoulders may be required on occasion.

MENTAL/VISUAL

Must be able to communicate with the employees through verbal and written skills. Ability to work on own without daily instructions. Must be able to deal with all types of personalities and express common sense, empathy and personable communication to employees in all types of situations while abiding by guidelines of the company. Must be able to operate computer, and other basic office equipment. Good computer and math skills required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasionally will be required to work within the factory environment where there is some exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass and heat. Must adhere to PPE requirements as defined in the safety manual when in the manufacturing area.
