Job Tittle: SRE

Location: Hybrid (Any of the client location across the USA)

Duration: Long Term Contract

We need these things for a candidate to be good:

1. Lots of experience as and SRE (can they give the details of the most important responsibilities of that role) see below from decent answer from Manan
2. Kafka, Kafka, Kafka all of the candidates were light on this and it is essential for this role
1. Need to have good experience in Kafka and Distributed Systems: Hadoop, Kassandra, and Kafka the importance of replicates (ISR s), the number of nodes needed before considered complete, how this affects resiliency, brokers, networking issues should be able to speak to all of these things
3. Needs someone who has created run books / not run the run book: What do the alerts need to do (importance of yellow is capturing things before going to red and how that works with alerting and getting that to admins and making a run book that covers all those scenarios
4. Need to know Splunk

Site Reliability Engineer:

Overview: Will be focused on core Applications migration initiatives to MS Azure. Some further along than others and in different phases of migration.

1. Released as a DevOps Engineer, but more of an SRE
2. All Java-based applications
3. Using App Dynamics and Splunk for monitoring--either okay, both nice to have.
4. Cloud background--Azure in particular nice to have for building metrics from VM dashboards running on Azure
5. Will need to read and query logs, pinpoint systems issues and troubleshoot or escalate to appropriate teams.
6. More on the applications side SRE vs infrastructure, but needs some background in Systems--understanding what's happening on the disc to troubleshoot issues and pinpoint origin.
7. CI/CD, Azure DevOps nice to have--pipelines in place, but be able to trace back to a pipeline issue
8. Terraform nice to have
9. Linux and shell scripting needed

Must Have:

1. SRE Background
2. Experience in site reliability of Java applications on Linux
3. Cloud experience (Azure preferred, AWS/Google Cloud Platform okay)
4. Splunk and/or AppDynamics
5. Linux scripting

Nice to Have:

1. CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
