What You'll Do
We are seeking to add a high-caliber member to our Finance & Accounting team. The Controller / Head of Accounting is a foundational role in our team that is responsible for leadership, development, and execution of the company's corporate accounting functions and reporting activities. Taking ownership of close processes, establishing and enforcing the best accounting practices, and mentoring the accounting team will be the main contributions to success. The Controller / Head of Accounting should thrive in a fast-paced, rapid growth environment with the ability to understand accounting's critical role in the 'big picture'. This role will report to the VP of Finance and will be based in Houston, Texas.

• Oversees the monthly close processes and is accountable for achieving our target for days to close.
• Manages, mentors, and develops the Accounting team helping communicate overarching business goals and maturing accounting processes and reporting accordingly
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Experience with and directly responsible for General Ledger impacting systems.
• Subject matter expert to make decisions, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest level of standards for completeness and accuracy.
• Understand the big-picture, think strategically and act tactically in an ambiguous environment
• Assist with completion of duties in absence of other F&A team members.

What You'll Bring

• Entrepreneurial Bent: You have built something from the ground up and know what it's like to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, tolerating ambiguities and resolving them as appropriate. You likely have some experience at a smaller company with this, or within a larger company driving a new initiative.
• Leadership: You are fulfilled in leading others and have proven to lead in a hybrid environment.
• Accounting Experience: You have served in accounting functions and understand the importance of strong controls. Overall 7 years in a mid or large sized public accounting firm focused on top-notch client service in the audit or CAS fields or you've served in the trenches of your previous company's accounting departments and have learned from the best (or worst) accounting practices. Experience with a SaaS company and CPA designation are preferred.
• Domain and Functional Expertise: Demonstrated experience and knowledge in key functional areas of Accounting across Transactional Accounting, Policies and Procedures, Treasury Management, Payroll, and more. A deep knowledge of GAAP compliance is required.

• Charisma: As the face of Accounting for both external and internal customers, you bring enthusiasm to relationships and are a joy to work with.
• Strategic Thinking and Communication: You're excited to help others put numbers into action and fuel the best business decisions. Ability to manage communications with key stakeholders at the highest level both written and in presentations and meetings.
• Killer Excel skills and experience in Netsuite is preferred.
• Must be based in Houston, Texas. This is a hybrid work model; a minimum of 2 days in office required.
