Job Description Summary Under the direction of the Chief Operation Officer and Imaging Director, the RSO is delegated the authority, organizational freedom, and management prerogative to maintain an effective Radiation Safety Program. This program shall operate in accordance with all state, federal, and other related regulatory guidelines. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelors of Science preferred Required Licenses/Certifications: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic technologist (ARRT). TMB/ Texas Department of Health Certification in Medical Radiologic Technology. Certified through an accredited Radiation Safety Officers Program. Registered in Radiation Therapy preferred. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Minimum of 5 years in Radiology & 2 years experience in Radiation Safety Tenet complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law. Responsibilities Effectively supervises the staff therapist to ensure the safe delivery of daily radiation treatment to patients, whose ages range from infant to elderly, with a majority toward elderly, 60 years and over, as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Implements the Department's Policies and Procedures; executes new or improved procedures, when necessary, as it relates to technical / therapy functions. Identifies, develops, and implements plans for the purchase(s) of new technologies for the set-up and delivery of radiation. Communicates regularly with outside vendors bringing new technologies / services to the program. Conducts performance evaluations; provides guidance and has primary responsibility for performance expectations, staff competencies, and meeting State and Federal Regulatory agency requirements (FDA, NRC, DOH, JC, ACR, ASTRO). Oversees daily operations including productivity, patient treatment schedule, supply management. Functions as a staff radiation therapist, as needed. Acts as liaison with Radiation Safety Officer/Medical Physicist to ensure safety and compliance measures are current, accurate, and met accordingly. Qualifications Education: Required: B.S. degree; Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program. Therapy Maintains educational (.edu) as required by the institution. Preferred: Advanced/Master's degree Experience: Required: 6 years of experience. Certifications: Current Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
