Job Summary Provide research consultations to patrons individually and in small groups in person, through email, phone, and online chat. Provide library instruction to RSCC classes at the request of faculty and serve as course embedded librarian as needed. Manage the library's website and electronic resources; troubleshoot, update and create content as needed.
This position works at least one evening a week and occasional Saturday hours.
Job Duties - Provide library instruction in person and online.
- May involve occasional travel to other Roane State Community campuses.
- Help set up and maintain access to the library's electronic resources; troubleshoot technical difficulties reported by patrons; submit tickets to the integrated library system and discovery tool vendor, Ex Libris. Develop and maintain library website.
- Provide reference service and research assistance to library users via phone, email, virtual chat and D2L course messaging system.
- Assist students though course embedded librarian services.
- Participate in ongoing collection development activities and manage Interlibrary loan requests.
- Participate in college committees.
Minimum Qualifications Master's in library or information science from an ALA accredited institution.
Experience with, and strong commitment to, reference service and library instruction with
users from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of information-seeking skills and technical competence.
Preferred Qualifications 1 year at Graduate Student Assistant level in a higher ed library.
Experience with administration of Ex Libris library systems products such as Alma/Primo, SpringShare products and experience with web page design and development is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively determine the root cause of issues and
implement the appropriate solutions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills.
Ability to work extended hours at least once a week and occasional Saturdays.
