Position SummaryWork as an advisor for students interested in and/or currently enrolled in a TCAT program. Perform outreach to local agencies and schools to inform and educate about TCAT programs and processes. Guide students through the admissions, financial aid, and registration processes. Plan and carry out student related College events. Work collaboratively with staff and faculty to the benefit of our students. Essential FunctionsOrganizational Culture and Inclusive Practices
Provides equity-minded support in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Division which aligns with the College’s values.
Embraces and promotes the College’s goals related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and supports the TCAT Division’s efforts to utilize best practices.
Provides equity-minded services and support for students, faculty and staff.
Coordinate and organize other TCAT events
TCAT Commencement Ceremonies
National Signing Day
TCAT Open House
Coordinate the nominations, interviews, and choosing of the student for the Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Awards.
Support TCAT’s involvement with SkillsUSA.
Holistic Student Support
Recruit students
Represent TCAT at potential recruiting events
Organize TCAT Open House
Conduct TCAT tours with prospective students or visiting groups
Update and maintain student plaque board as part of our recruiting and retention effort
Advise students and families through the admissions, financial aid, and registration processes.
Provide excellent customer service to all prospective and enrolled students.
Actively support and participate in campus recruitment and retention efforts. This may include serving on committees.
Other job related duties as assigned
Fiscal Stewardship
When working with marketing to create promotional materials make sure all programs are being promoted.
Maintain compliance with admission, registration, and financial aid rules and regulations.
Avoid excessive spending on promotional materials.
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
Utilize each interaction with students to help them gain a better understanding of the opportunities and resources available to them.
Knowledge, Skills, And Work Characteristics
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences in verbal and written form.
Ability to represent the College and division professionally with internal and external constituents to further the purpose, values, and mission of the College.
Excellent computer skills and abilities including but not limited to Microsoft Office and; demonstrated willingness to work extra hours as needed to cover College events; and, demonstrated abilities to be an effective team member.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
3 years full time experience in higher education
