POSITION TITLE: Student Services Specialist II - Southeast Campus

POSITION SUMMARYThis positionrepresents the college to potential students and their families, secondaryschools and their respective officials, post-secondary institutions and theirrespective officials and the community at large. The main emphasis of thisposition is to recruit and build relationships with prospective Nashville StateCommunity College students in the community and to assist them through theenrollment and financial aid process.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains assignedrecruitment territory including a visitation schedule, presentation and eventsas needed.
Plan, execute, andparticipate in recruitment events on and off campus, such as high school fairs,college fairs, campus tours, open houses and other events.
Providesstudent-centered service and advising to prospective students and theirfamilies regarding the college, academic offerings, admission procedures, andfinancial aid options. This includes assisting applicants through theapplication and financial aid processes.
Manage ongoingeffective and strategic communication with prospective students and applicantsvia letters, telephone calls, personal visits, electronic and social networkingmediums etc. regarding college information, course programs, resources, careeroptions, and the enrollment process for dual enrollment and regular collegeadmissions.
Participate in NewStudent Orientation.
Conduct FAFSAworkshops for incoming and current students.
Coordinateassigned activities with those of other college programs, departments andexternal entities.
Establish andmaintain professional and friendly relationships with prospective students,parents, counselors, high schools, college representatives and partneringorganizations
Use availabletechnology for data collection, analysis, and outreach for recruitment,admission, financial aid, and enrollment of students.
Conduct campustours for prospective students, their families, and visitors to the College.
Provide regularreports on contacts to prospects and applicants, visits to schools and campusvisits, as requested.
Assist inplanning, implementing, and evaluating creative approaches to increaseawareness about Nashville State to prospective student audiences and toincrease enrollment and college completion.
Maintains andorders office supplies and other materials as needed.
Oversee studentworkers as needed.
May require someweekend and evening hours.
Relatedduties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree
One to two years’ experience incustomer service.
Proficiency in computer software.
Proficient written and oral communication skills.
Abilityto establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students,other employees, federal and state agencies, and the general public. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBilingual in multiple languages,including Spanish and/or Arabic
Preferred knowledge of collegerecruitment, admissions, and/or financial aid
Two tofour years’ experience in in higher education.
Experiencewith Ellucian products desirable, particularly Banner.
Intermediate to advancedcomputer skills.
Record keeping and reporting skills
Publicspeaking skills
Stronginterpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively witha wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Critical thinking skillsto identify the underlying principles, motivations, reasons, or facts bybreaking down information or data into separate parts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ANDABILITIES Abilityto work with diverse groups and communicate effectively.
Abilityto organize and manage task and special projects.
Abilityto represent the College in community and professional settings.

Rate of Pay: $16.04 to $19.25, depending on experience
