POSITION SUMMARY
This position represents the college to potential students and their families, secondary schools and their respective officials, post-secondary institutions and their respective officials and the community at large. The main emphasis of this position is to build relationships with prospective Nashville State Community College students and to assist and advise them through the enrollment process, including career advising.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide student-centered service and advising to prospective students and their families regarding the college, academic offerings, career choice, admission procedures and financial aid options. This includes assisting applicants through the application, career development and financial aid process. Develop, coordinate and expand activities related to New Student Orientation and other student on-boarding communications and services. Collaborate to develop, refine, deliver and evaluate orientation for new students, including the development of new recruitment programs for transfer and non-traditional students.
Manage ongoing effective and strategic communication with prospective students and applicants via letters, telephone calls, personal visits, electronic and social networking mediums, etc. regarding college information, course programs, resources, career options and the enrollment process. Participate in recruitment events on and off campus, such as high school fairs, college fairs, campus tours, open houses and other events.
Coordinate assigned activities with other college programs, departments and external entities. Provide regular reports on contacts to prospective students and student applicants, as well as on visits to schools and campus visits. Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating creative approaches to increase awareness about Nashville State to prospective student audiences for the purpose of increasing enrollment and college completion. Serve on college committees as assigned. Oversee student workers as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree
Two (2) years' experience working with students
Career advising experience
Prior customer service experience
Proficient computer skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree
Prior marketing experience
Bilingual, preferably Spanish and/or Arabic
Experience with Ellucian products, particularly Banner
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to use available technology for data collection, analysis, and outreach for recruitment, admission, financial aid and enrollment of students. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Working knowledge of regulations governing federal, state, and institutional policies regarding the administration of financial aid. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of college recruitment, career counseling, admissions and/or financial aid processes. Critical thinking skills, and the ability to analyze data. Record keeping and reporting skills.
Ability to work some weekend and evening hours.

Rate of Pay: $44,129 to $52,962 annually, depending on experience
