LOCATION: Fully remote position but preference for candidates located near the following offices: Sacramento, CA, Denver, CO, Kansas City, MOAbout The JobThe Tepa Companies are seeking an Environmental Specialist to research a wide variety of hydrogeology sites in geologic settings using data from historical documents, databases, internet sources, and fieldwork.
As an Environmental Specialist, you may provide fieldwork planning, environmental sampling, data management support, data quality review, results reporting, subcontractor oversight, writing work plans, monitoring, and tracking project metrics, following deliverable schedules, providing technical reviews, maintaining, and updating environmental databases, and applying quality assurance and quality control checks.
Job Functions:
  • Assists project team in all project phases including planning, data collection and management, project documentation, field sampling, site assessment activities, and technical report writing
  • Supports the preparation of work planning documents and associated deliverables
  • Prepares environmental technical data summary reports
  • Performs data and documentation quality assurance/quality control reviews and supports the production of effective technical reports
  • Executes activities and workflow to meet established program goals and objectives
  • Maintain open communication with project staff regarding all issues and develop resolutions
  • Performs tasks in a safe manner
  • Travels to client and project sites as needed
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in an environmental field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Access, and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
Preferred, not required:
  • 40-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and annual refreshers
  • 8-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Supervisor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour Construction Safety Supervisor
  • Experience compiling, analyzing, and reporting on technical data from a variety of sources including reports, field observation, testing results, tabular data, databases, and other existing reports and figures
  • One (1) internship completed in relevant field
