JOB TITLE: FULL-TIME MACHINE OPERATOR I

Job Summary: The Machine Operator I is an intermediate-level, full-time, hourly position within the Terrapin Beer Company Packaging department where advancement in operations is expected. Under the direction of Packaging Department management team, this position is responsible for operating limited machinery within the Packaging department and assisting with the daily packaging operations as detailed below. The incumbent will report directly to the Packaging Shift Supervisor.

As a condition of employment, this position is required to work a rotational swing shift that includes nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety procedures and adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment.
  • As directed, maintain a safe, clean work environment that includes general housekeeping and warehouse duties.
  • As directed, move finished products and materials from the Packaging Department and Production work areas utilizing hand trucks, pallets jacks and powered industrial trucks.
  • Perform select administrative tasks including, but not limited to, quality checks on finished goods and accurately maintaining required paperwork.
  • Perform basic maintenance functions on conveyor belts including cleaning all components, lubricating ball bearings, replacing belts and inspecting for damages.
  • Identify all lock-out tag-out points and Emergency Stops on all equipment.
  • As directed, operate designated machinery including, but not limited to, Palletezier, Depalletezier, Tray Packer and Switchback 150.
  • Demonstrate cognition, and application, of departmental standard operating procedures, internal processes and training courses specific to this position.
  • Assist Machine Operator IIs and Packaging Setup & Calibration Technicians in performing select maintenance on departmental machinery.
  • Perform loading and unloading of bottling and canning raw materials and finished goods from applicable conveyor belts.
  • As directed, utilize various chemicals to clean machinery in department in adherence with safety standards and company standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

Minimum of 6 months experience operating similar, or comparable, machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution setting. (Or) prior work experience in a comparable fast-paced, process-oriented work setting. Completion of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.

Applicants, without an accommodation, must have the ability to frequently reach, twist, stoop, bend, crouch, stand and walk for 12-hour shifts. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver up to 180 lb. kegs.

As a condition of employment, this position involves working rotating shifts, that includes nights and weekends, and applicants must be able to do so without an accommodation.

Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment and work in varying weather conditions that includes humidity and seasonal temperature changes.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a comprehensive background check in line with Company policy.
