Tesla is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer, Metal Forming Near Austin, TX
What To ExpectThe team is responsible for designing, developing, and installing new manufacturing lines for stamping and metal forming at Gigafactory Texas. Through understanding program requirements and collaborating with various cross-functional teams, this team ensures new stamping lines are integrated with other processes and are capable of meeting Tesla’s objectives. Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage large scale design and installation projects. The ideal candidate will use a first-principles approach to solve engineering problems and design solutions to meet the needs of Tesla. What You'll Do
Responsible for design, installation and commissioning activities of manufacturing lines
Support equipment design needs and necessary administrative tasks, such as RFQ creation, throughout multiple project phases
Provides clear direction and correlates feedback from suppliers to ensure equipment quality and performance targets are met
Analyze data to develop, troubleshoot and improve a variety of processes
Collaborate with suppliers to develop engineering designs by validating key requirements such as cycle time, layout and tooling
Make detailed studies and possess excellent problem-solving skills to mitigate any potential risk or design flaw
Develop and execute detailed project timelines, open items, risks and report out to management and executives
Facilitate equipment trials at both vendor sites and Tesla factories for final acceptance and handover to production teams
Provides guidance to engineering technicians, interns and various team members as necessary
Coordinate and work on activities with other cross functional teams such as Mechanical Design, Quality Engineering and Process Engineering teamsWhat You'll Bring
Bachelors in mechanical engineering or other related discipline with minimum 3 years of experience in high volume manufacturing environment
Experience with process lines and automation; experience with brake presses, deburring and grinding is a plus
Knowledge of CATIA, SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required
Excellent project and vendor management skills
Good understanding of equipment safety and safety compliance is a plus
Highly innovative & motivated individual who is also a good team player
Organized and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadline
Ability to solve problems with systematic and structured approach
