We are seeking a part-time Bilingual Community Health Worker to engage with community members to ensure awareness of available services and resources. They will be an advocate for the needs of the communities and work to address social determinants of health and improve access to healthcare services. This role will organize and lead workshops, health fairs, and community events to raise awareness about significant health topics. This role oversees the coordination of program planning including implementation, events, and communication. This is a part-time position and hours are dependent on project demand. Required Qualifications: Associate degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience Four years of experience in public relations, outreach, training, or related areas Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish Must have valid State of TX Driver’s license Department of State Health Services (DSHS) certification, certified CHW and/or CHWI, Promotora Certification of Training, or ability to successfully complete Promotora Certification Preferred Qualifications: Two years of related experience as a Community Health Worker working with Spanish-speaking community members, stakeholders, and completing research and outreach activities Public relations and marketing experience Experience with assisting or leading training efforts Experience with data collection and data management efforts Knowledge of health care education What you need to know Salary: $19.23 hourly Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding. Other Requirements and Factors: Work beyond normal office hours including adaptable work hours on weekends/evenings. Will require occasional travel outside of Harris County as well as substantial travel within Harris County in the Manchester, Houston, TX area.
