Job TitleDSS Coordinator Agency Texas A&M University - San Antonio Department Student Engagement Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationSan Antonio, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The DSS Coordinator will support DSS students through coordination of initial contact and registration for Disability Support Services, along with ongoing provision of academic accommodations, engagement, and retention efforts. The RS II will also provide complex administrative support work for the DSS office and staff. This position reports to the Director of Disability Support Services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates administrative support functions. Assists in the coordination of daily workflow and the resolution of complex, highly sensitive matters. Maintains confidentiality and security of information and files in accordance with FERPA. Assists students through coordination of initial contact and registration for services. Support continued engagement and retention through coordination of contact campaigns throughout the semester. Coordinates programming, outreach, projects, meetings, trainings and other special events. Monitors the departmental email to ensure timely response and resolution. Schedules appointments and maintains departmental calendar. Communicates effectively and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students. Assists Exam Coordinator with scheduling, preparing exam materials and equipment, proctoring, and exam return. Assists in maintaining a well-organized reception area and exam center. Support Assistive Technology staff with materials check-in/check-out and creation of alternative formats. Maintains a variety of fiscal and administrative records: uses FAMIS/CANOPY to maintain and reconcile DSS accounts monthly, or as needed. Purchases office supplies, equipment, etc. for the department in accordance with purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions. Performs word processing, desktop publishing, presentation, and data management activities, and assist staff with the use of these applications. Compose correspondence and reports. Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases Works independently with general supervision. Completes tasks in a timely manner; must have the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and handle periods of increased workload demands. Demonstrates a model student service attitude in all interactions with students by providing cordial, caring, thorough, proactive, and encouraging assistance and direction. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree. One year of related experience in student affairs work. Preferred Education and Experience Experience in Higher Education. Experience in a medical, mental health, or educational office setting. Experience working with adults with disabilities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Interpersonal and communication skills. Planning and organization skills. Ability be able to complete all tasks in a timely manner. Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and handle periods of increased workload demands.
