Temple Foundation and Texas Pioneer Foundation, the program specialist engages 3rd through 12th grade students in the field of education as a potential career choice. The program specialist will lead the charge in building awareness of the Eagles Teach brand and its prominence as a novel approach to strengthening the teacher pipeline. This position is funded through a 5-year Eagles Teach grant between T.L.L. Temple Foundation and Texas Pioneer Foundation which aims to address the teacher shortage in East Texas. Extension of the position beyond five years will be based on future funding. Salary information: The expected salary range is $50,000-$55,000 annually. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as liaison between the university and local partner districts to coordinate various events for 3rd through 12th grade students in the Eagles Teach program. Leads and/or collaborates with presenters to provide high quality, relevant, and hands-on professional development for high school students in the Eagles Teach program. Coordinates with local independent school districts to develop and monitor practicum experiences for high school students within the Eagles Teach program. Establishes plans with key personnel in elementary schools to begin identifying and celebrating students that demonstrate educator qualities. Develops engaging experiences for middle/junior high school students that bring awareness, excitement, and knowledge about the education career field. Coordinates the development of a summer Teach Camp 3rd through 12th grade students. Duties include hiring and training of key personnel, purchasing of materials, marketing, and planning the camp agenda. Collaborates with the department of University Advancement to plan and execute marketing and branding of the Eagles Teach program. Hires, trains, and coordinates schedules of dual-credit college tutors. Maintains engagement with students in the Eagles Teach program as they enroll into TAMUT using various approaches such as TAFE and education department events. Monitors the quality of the Eagles Teach program using key metrics such as interest level, Eagles Teach enrollment, event participation, and student feedback Consistently updates district personnel on the progress of the Eagles Teach program. Shares scholarship information and helps students apply to scholarships including the Charles Butt Scholarship, university scholarships, and district specific scholarships. Maintains communication with Charles Butt Scholarship applicants to support application completion. Assists in reviewing the Charles Butt Scholarship applicant information and interviewing applicants. Assists the certification officer in duties as needed. Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of related experience Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in education-related field Five (5) years’ experience working for a public school district in Texas. Two years of related experience Knowledge of school district systems, processes, and policies. Experience in monitoring program quality using established metrics Experience in planning engaging events for students of various ages. Experience in building brand awareness. Experience in hiring and managing student workers. Ability to problem solve in collaboration with others. Other Requirements Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
