What We WantThe End User Support Specialist II, performs front line desk-side support functions for UES administrative and executive staff. Additionally, provides advanced troubleshooting, serves as an escalation point for complex problems, and serves as an advisor to management for systemic technical issues and continual service improvement. Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of related experience in user IT consulting
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting both Windows 10 and MacOS platform
  • Effective customer-centric client relation abilities
  • Ability to be productive working independently or in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Computer or Information Systems Management, Computer Systems Analyst, or Information Technology
  • Four or more years of recent experience providing deskside support of both Windows and MacOS devices for a higher education institution
  • Advanced software troubleshooting and hardware repair experience across both PC and Mac platforms
  • Advanced HP and Xerox Printer hardware and software experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced Windows 10 and MacOS 10.14 troubleshooting skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of IT Endpoint Security practices
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:CompTIA A , Network , or Security Certification. Dell Certified Systems Expert. Apple Certified Mac Technician. Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. ITIL Foundations or higher. HDI Desktop Support Technician
Job ResponsibilitiesTechnical SupportTroubleshoot all endpoint computing related issues for Windows, Mac and Mobile devices. Provide frontline hardware and software repairs, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for administrative and executive staff. Support and assist Tier II| specialists and IT supervisors, as needed. Monitor and address assigned work on a daily basis. Follow detailed standard operating procedures, administrative procedures, and departmental guidelines in support of the organization's mission and vision. Develop support documentation for internal use by others in end user support areas. Provide on-call support on nights and weekends as needed. Drive a university vehicle to various UES locations on campus.
Endpoint ManagementMonitor endpoint computing related issues through organizational system. Track and maintain inventory of UES endpoint devices. Manage Windows Updates for all endpoint computing devices. Develop and execute hardware and software testing standards. Evaluate and test a variety of hardware and software configurations to verify compatibility with endpoint computing resources.
Incident ResolutionClosely manage assigned incidents and help requests through established response and resolution time using the organization's incident management platform. Provide timely updates and effective communication methods to keep organizational stakeholders informed through resolution.
EngagementProvide periodic one-on-one and large group training to staff on a variety of IT related tools or topics. Promote IT initiatives and establish partnerships within the organization.
TrainingParticipate in training and professional development sessions. Participate in 4 applicable IT training and professional development activities yearly, as needed and approved by IT leadership.
