What We WantThe Health Education Coordinator provides administrative oversight of the Prevention and Population Health area.
What You Need To KnowSalary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Other Requirements and Factors: Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
Travel required.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in health education, Public Health, Psychology, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience in higher education and/or health education including at least one year of related supervisory experience
  • One-year supervisory experience
Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) Certification within one year of hire
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Knowledge of responsibilities and competencies of health education
  • Knowledge of Federal requirements relating to College and University reporting
  • Knowledge of risk management issues associated with student organizations
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and take initiative
  • Ability to plan and implement educational programs, establish partnerships, write grants, and conduct trainings
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in public health or health education
Responsibilities: Supervision:
  • Trains, hires, supervises, and evaluates staff in Prevention and Population Health.
  • Coordinates and supervises the administrative and program operations of Prevention and Population Health.
  • Oversees daily operations, for the Health Education Team.
  • Assigns and assures data collection for outreach activities.
Administration:
  • Conducts campus needs assessments relating to health education needs of the student population.
  • Provides health education training to staff, faculty, and students.
  • Serves as a resource to provide health education consultation to university departments, advisors, and student organizations.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates presentations and workshops for students, faculty, and staff in alignment with office missions.
  • Stays current on trends in health education and new legislation, State laws, Federal requirements, and National standards relating to health education, as well as requirements provided by the Office for Civil Rights. Designs, implements, and evaluates programs to meet Prevention & Population Health goals.
  • Engages in individual development and/or education conversations with students.
  • Appropriately refers to University and community resources and services.
