What We WantThe Outreach Coordinator will assist in the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of outreach programs and services associated with the NSF Center for the Mechanical Control of Chemistry (NSF-CMCC). The selected candidate will participate in planning and initiating specialized programs to facilitate outreach program goals. This position will also work to support the CMCC Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program; coordinate program communications and marketing materials; assist in the development of policies and procedures; and prepare and maintain budgets, special reports, grant submissions, and other documents related to outreach. Additional duties could include, attending meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned outreach programs, as well as maintaining student recruitment. What You Need to KnowSalary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Special Note: Due to this position's salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
Schedule/Location: Hybrid/Remote Work Option: Due to the nature of this position, a hybrid or remote work arrangement may be available for workplace flexibility. Occasional travel required. Occasional work required after hours and on weekends.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • 4 years of related work experience in STEM education
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Masters or higher degree in STEM field
  • Project Management Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Presentation Graphics
Responsibilities:
  • Program Development: Assists the center faculty in the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of outreach programs and services associated with the NSF Center for the Mechanical Control of Chemistry (NSF-CMCC). Participates in planning and initiating specialized programs to facilitate outreach program goals. Coordinates and manages center outreach efforts working alongside current CMCC faculty. Manages specific programs, including working with Beyond Benign on Green Chemistry Commitment activities. Supports and acts as the point of contact for activities associated with the Science History Institute. Carries out meeting facilitation and logistics, management support of existing outreach programs, and the organization and support of outreach activities associated with the CMCC REU program.
  • Administrative: Supports administrative needs for outreach efforts. Maintains and oversees budgets related to outreach. Communicates with the Director and Associate Director regarding outreach activities and plans. Collaborates with Chemistry Department staff at Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University MarComm, and other institutions to help maintain the website and coordinate facilities and other logistics related to outreach programs. Coordinates with Beyond Benign and the Science History Institute for dissemination of outreach materials. Reports regularly about the status of outreach programs. Prepares materials related to annual reports and funding. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Prepares and maintains preparation and budgets, special reports, grant submissions, and other documents related to outreach. Participates in bi-annual planning and coordination meetings where the goals for each year are laid out.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with the External Advisory Board of the CMCC, the Managing Director of the CMCC, and NSF to evaluate outreach programs for continuous improvement. This includes helping to develop and administer assessment instruments and contributing to the interpretation of results from independent external evaluations of the center, while maintaining the independence of the evaluator.
