Job DescriptionWho we are The Texas A&M School of Architecture offers undergraduate and graduate professional programs to prepare individuals to enter the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, construction management, urban and regional planning. The planning, design and construction of the world’s buildings, cities and landscapes involve a variety of professional skills. The faculty of architects, urban planners, landscape architects, engineers, computer scientists, constructors, lawyers, historians, and artists, in collaboration with educators in the language, philosophy and culture and natural and social sciences, help students develop an understanding of the physical, social, economic and political forces that shape our environment. What we want The Research Assistant, a temporary, part-time position, will support faculty research activities under general supervision at the Hazard Reduction & Recovery Center. Duties may include literature reviews, data collection and management, data collection and/or analysis, supporting research staff, and poster and manuscript contribution. All required University and specific training must be completed before being allowed to work in the research laboratory.
What you need to know Hourly Pay Rate: up to $18 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Position Details: This is a temporary, part-time position for 4.5 months.

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:
- Appropriate bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Courteous and professional
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R) and data analysis techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and thoroughness in data collection and management.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize findings.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address research challenges.
- Data Collection and Management - Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather data, Maintain and organize databases and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Literature Review and Analysis - Review existing literature to inform research projects. Summarize findings and identify gaps in the literature. Assist in the development of research questions and hypotheses.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation - Use statistical software to analyze quantitative data. Interpret qualitative data from interviews and focus groups. Prepare reports and visualizations to present findings.
- Administrative and Support Tasks - Assist with grant applications and funding proposals. Coordinate and schedule research activities and meetings. Prepare and edit research documents and presentations.
