What We WantThe Communications Coordinator, under general supervision, coordinates, develops and implements a comprehensive communications program to include marketing, media and publications.
What You Need To KnowSalary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related field
  • Three years of communications and/or marketing experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing applications
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and familiarity with project management systems
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Familiarity with social media best practices and up to date on the latest social media applications and trends
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Keen eye with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in health care communications and/or marketing
  • Some graphic design experience
  • Experience developing content that resonates with small and rural community stakeholders
  • Mastery of AP Style and writing journalistic content
  • Certificate in any of the following: health communication, healthcare marketing, professional writing, social media, public relations, web content
Responsibilities:Focus on the Rural Engagement Program
  • Coordinates, develops and implements a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the Rural Engagement Program in close coordination with the marketing and communications leads at Texas A&M Health, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing and the Rural and Community Health Institute.
  • Researches, writes and edits content for Rural Engagement Program communications (i.e., executive emails, presentation materials, program-wide communiques) and press releases and articles to promote the Rural Engagement Program.
  • Identifies and conveys the latest news and story ideas for external outreach through Texas A&M Health, Texas A&M University and others.
  • Coordinates with the public relations manager on external media for the Rural Engagement Program.
  • Develops social media content for the program that will be shared on Texas A&M Health social media platforms, including Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Threads.
  • Oversees and updates web pages to ensure consistent voice and accurate online information.
  • Enforces the program’s brand/style per Texas A&M Health’s style guidelines and appropriately integrate key messaging in all internal and external communications related to the program.
  • Coordinates, reviews and edits production of print pieces and marketing collateral items including, but not limited to, annual reports, advertisements, brochures and fact sheets.
Support of Texas A&M Health, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Rural & Community Health Institute
  • Supports the directors of marketing and communications at the School of Medicine and School of Nursing on school-specific projects and tasks, including copywriting for web, social media, media relations and other digital and print materials.
  • Supports the manager of marketing and communications at Texas A&M Health on projects for the health science center administration, Rura & Community Health Institute, clinics, centers, institutes and interprofessional activities. This includes researching, interviewing and writing articles for the Vital Record newsroom, assisting with social media planning and content development, writing for the web and assisting with events.
