About The DivisionJoin the Treasury Accounting team as an Accountant VII! Work involves preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of financial statements, financial analyses, records, and/or reports, establishing, maintaining, and/or overseeing accounting systems, procedures, and controls. Acts as the senior accountant and special projects SME for Treasury Accounting.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 year’s experience performing senior level accounting, banking, financial operations and/or related state government experience.
  • 5 year’s experience in Excel, Word, and other basic office software.
  • 5 year’s experience in the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS), primarily in agency fund accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in PeopleSoft.
  • Experience in agency accounting in CAPPS.
  • Experience in preparing and responsibility for agency Annual Financial Report (AFR).
  • Registered, certified, or licensed in accounting or financial field.
Substitutions
  • Each additional year of experience in accounting and/or financial operations in either private or government entity may substitute a year of education up to four years (120 semester hours).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered, certified, or licensed in an accounting or financial field is preferred.
In this role you will: Knowledge of:
  • GAAP and GASB accounting and reporting practices.
  • Accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Federal grants and/or capital asset accounting practices.
  • Proprietary Fund accounting including Cash Flow Statement.
  • Annual Financial Report reporting guidelines.
Skill in:
  • Advanced fund accounting, financial or complex calculations and/or financial reviews.
Ability to:
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with agency personnel and the public.
  • Professionally represent the section, division, or agency at all times.
  • Learn new concepts and apply that knowledge appropriately (i.e., Using Uniform Statewide Administrative System (USAS) and Centralized Accounting and Payroll Personnel System (CAPPS)).
