Texas Health and Human Services is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Austin, TX
Essential Job Functions
- Acts as the Owner’s Representative for the development of the new Panhandle State Hospital project. Prepares, establishes, and monitor project schedules for assigned projects. Responsible for all phases of the project’s life cycle, from design through construction, inspection, final completion, and closeout. (25%)
- Manage and direct services performed by the professional services providers. Manage services of supplemental professional services providers for the capital construction project. (25%)
- Oversee administration of construction contract. Reviews and approves change orders and determines construction levels to review and approve construction draws and milestone completions required to make payment to vendor. (25%)
- Assist in reviewing codes and departmental regulations to determine if design and constructed conditions comply with current requirements and determine solutions for compliance. (20%)
- Provide other technical services and special projects as requested. Assists the Department with other special tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Construction. (5%)
Skill in project management monitoring; and in addressing changes in scope and budget and monitoring the schedule of the project.
Ability to exercise sound judgement in making critical decisions, to analyze complex information and develop plans to address identified issues, to demonstrate negotiation and facilitation skills, to identify project risks, to prepare reports and charts and to communicate effectively and coordinate the work of others.
Shows proficient skill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple simultaneous activities in a diverse and complex environment.
Registration Or Licensure RequirementsGraduation from a 4-year college or university with a degree in relevant program. Certification as a Licensed Architect or a Professional Engineer by the State; or the ability to transfer an existing active license from another state within 6 months with same construction experience is preferred.
Initial Selection Criteria
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a field relevant to the assignment is required. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum one year experience in managing new commercial construction projects – three years’ experience managing major renovation projects can be substituted for experience managing new commercial construction. Preference will be given to demonstrated experience managing large/complex construction projects.
DurationThis position is temporary in nature and employment will be provided for a minimum of 5-years or until completion of the assigned project.
Work Location:
This position will be responsible for managing a psychiatric inpatient hospital construction project in Amarillo. The position’s project responsibilities may be reassigned based on future project and staffing needs.
The selected candidate will attend new employee orientation and manage administrative functions through in Austin. The selected candidate will not be reimbursed for travel from the employee's residence to project site location.
