Texas Health and Human Services is Hiring a CPS FC Elig Spec II Near Port Arthur, TX

Job DescriptionCPS FC Elig Spec I - The position is responsible for determining and certifying eligibility for foster care and Medical Assistance Only (MAO). The position uses application forms and interprets policy to determine client’s eligibility for IV-E, State-paid, or MAO foster care assistance. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (FPS) employees, Medicaid providers, Foster Parents, and Office of Attorney General employees.
Essential Job FunctionsDetermines eligibility on initial applications, and re-determines eligibility and/or re-certifications on subsequent applications and reviews. Performs data entry into the agency's IMPACT system. Handles phone calls from foster parents, institutional bookkeepers, and other CPS staff regarding billing discrepancies. Researches, documents, and updates court ordered child support information for children in the Title IV-E program or state paid foster care. Prepares and maintains eligibility files. Prepares training material for instructing service delivery workers or other agency staff in eligibility requirements. Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations. Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts. Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
Knowledge Skills AbilitiesKnowledge of agency policies and procedures. Knowledge of AFDC categorical requirements. Knowledge of laws and policies for Title IVE requirements. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Skill in effective verbal and written communications. Ability to identify problems and make recommendations to correct. Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to work in a stressful environment and meet deadlines.
Registration Or Licensure RequirementsNone
Initial Selection CriteriaGraduation from high school or equivalent. Two years full-time social service, human services work, eligibility determination, or PRS experience. Sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
Additional InformationThis position is for Region 5 and can be housed in an office within region 5 where there is available space.
