Director IS-Plano/Allen/Frisco
Location- Majority will be spent at Texas Health Plano
Job Duties
ORGANIZATION AND OVERSIGHT
Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and recommends technical solutions in keeping with existing standards and/or guides the selection process in seeking a suitable solution.
COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING
Responsible for managing/coordinating the activities of team members and ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions. Ensures the free flow of information between entity and system in areas of compliance, security, and privacy. Directs the management of healthcare information in traditional paper records and in the migration of imaged and electronic data.
POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND STANDARDS
Reviews all entity project proposals and requests for: Needs assessment suitable justification for said project to verify that each project has an executive sponsor and project owner to ensure appropriate levels of accountability. Review capital cost assumptions and approves all business requirements prior to approval of the technical solution. Adherence to existing standards to include justification for any deviation from existing standards, coordinates and oversees activities of team members (and vendors) and develops resources for post-production operations.
PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND CHARACTERISTICS
Performs liaison duties between end-users, operations, and technical personnel in the areas of development of functional system specifications, systems selection, implementation planning, training, and support such as Care Connect, Caregate, Intra and Internet portals, clinical and nonclinical systems (Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory). Directs all projects related to infrastructure, telecom, clinical and nonclinical systems. Executes budgets allocation for ITS.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field required. 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree is required.
Experience
8 years experience in Information Technology to include experience in a healthcare setting implementing hospital-based computer systems required with degree, 12 years without degree. Experience working directly with physicians preferred.
Skills
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong ability to identify and overcome barriers to progress and negotiate them to move the project forward. Demonstrated understanding of client server applications. Working knowledge of local & wide area networking. Extensive understanding of general business and healthcare. Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Solid writing skills. Strong speaking & presentation skills. Experience in implementing effective and innovative technologies. Proven ability to coordinate and manage IT projects. Analytic and problem solving skills. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
