Texas International Terminals is Hiring a Terminal Millwright Planner Near Galveston, TX

Terminal Millwright Planner

The Terminal Millwright will maintain, repair, and facilitate installation of industrial machines used at the terminal, while working to plan for preventative and predictive maintenance and scheduling.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs machines including when unexpected issues arise.
  • Performs preventive maintenance makes repairs on older machines.
  • Provides advice and recommendations to management concerning new machinery.
    • Plans and facilitates installation of new or refurbished machinery, building platforms and foundations.
  • Operates engine lathe to adjust machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Disassembles or dismantles machines.
  • Gathers and assembles parts for repairs or modifications based on blueprints.
  • Conducts safety inspections of facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area daily.
    • Reads and interprets blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation and operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
    • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shaffing, conveyors and tram rails, using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
  • Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
    • Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.

    • Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble install, align, and adjust machines.
    • Ensures machines perform to specifications by conducting tests; modifies and fine tunes machines.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
    • 3 years of experience required; four years of successful apprenticeship training-(preferred).
    • Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
    • Possesses a working knowledge of machine alignment.
    • Must be able to assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
    • Must have knowledge of optical and laser alignments.
    • Use logical step-by-step procedures.
    • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
    • NCCER Millwright certification is a plus.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work at elevated heights, including using lifts, ladders, and stairs.

  • Work is done outdoors; must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Position Details:

  • Shift work - must be available and flexible to work variable shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Will be subject to Call out.
  • Non-Exempt position.
