TEXAS LEADERSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLS Job Title: Teacher’s Aide Department: Support Staff Reports To: Campus Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt GENERAL PURPOSE: The Teacher’s Aide is responsible for providing administrative and non-administrative support to full-time teachers. The Teacher’s Aide is also responsible for reinforcing learning, assisting in preparing materials and equipment, performing clerical tasks, and supervising students inside and outside of the classroom. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. This employee may be required to work with at-risk students.Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacherAssist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and suppliesAssist with keeping students on task, answering student questions, and monitoring progress of all studentsSupervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the roomSupervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all timesHelp with general housekeeping taskAssist the teacher in any other appropriate waysMaintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the schoolTreat all students with dignity and respectAttend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferencesParticipate in professional workshopsMaintain confidentiality about students, their families, and other employees outside the schoolSupervise students during lunch and as assignedHelp with the operations of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc.)Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education / Experience: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalentHold or ability to obtain a valid Texas educational aide certificateSkills:Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a teamEffective multitasker; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlinesAbility to assist with classroom instruction and managementEffective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsExperience and ability to work well with childrenPhysical Demands / Work Environment: Work requires being on your feet for long periods of timeLifting of up to 50 pounds unassistedPossess a current and valid Texas driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record, preferredTraveling between campuses or to attend field tripsLimit cell phone use to work-related purposesLimit conversation with students to academic instruction
