TGG Accounting is Hiring an Accounting Manager (Construction Background) Near El Cajon, CA

Position Summary: The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations, manage the accounting staff, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. A critical part of this role involves managing Work-In-Progress (WIP) accounting to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Work-In-Progress (WIP) Accounting:

  • Manage WIP schedules, tracking project costs, billings, and revenue recognition.
  • Review and analyze WIP reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and guidelines.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
  • Coordinate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making processes with financial insights.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit readiness.

Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Manage and enhance accounting software and systems to increase efficiency.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience with WIP accounting and project cost tracking.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
