  • Current Colorado teaching credentials required of proof of eligibility required
  • Competitive Salary – We are introducing a new salary schedule for the 2024-25 school year that meets or exceeds every other district and charter school in our immediate geographic area in most categories
  • Salary range starts at $60,000 plus additional for verified experience

SUMMARY: A Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Teacher at The Academy of Charter Schools is responsible for guiding Multilinguistic Learners (MLs) towards proficiency in English & WIDA standards while supporting their cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The teacher will utilize effective teaching methods to ensure student success and foster an inclusive educational environment that promotes achievement for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • Serve as a resource to classroom teachers to support ML students achieve academically in the classroom.
  • Plans and delivers differentiated instruction and sheltered instruction to meet student needs.
  • Implements a balance of formative and summative practices to provide students with targeted, specific feedback.
  • Advocate for the needs of ML students in and out of the classroom.
  • Administer language screeners to identify students' needs and develop individualized learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate ML cumulative files and communicate changes to the CLDE department.
  • Co-teach, co-plan, and collaborate with other teachers to provide integrated instruction and support for ML students.
  • Administer all mandated school and state assessments.
  • Collaborate with other educators to fulfill responsibilities related to school and district goals and priorities.
  • Foster professional relationships with peers, parents, and the community to support student learning and development.
  • Model and instill Academy core values into students whenever possible.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess a valid Colorado Teacher License with appropriate endorsement in the area you are teaching or obtain one prior to start
  • Must be Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) endorsed
  • Possess a strong understanding of current learning theories for ELs and state of the art pedagogy of English language acquisition
  • Experience embedding WIDA standards within CCSS for general education classrooms
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff members, parents and administrators
  • Organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. 
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Must hold a teaching license through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) that includes the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse endorsement

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within one month after entering position.
