Position: Operations Manager

Position Classification: Part Time, Non-exempt

Reports to: Executive Director

About The Actors’ Center

The Actors’ Center (AC) is a non-profit membership and service organization created by and for actors in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Since its beginnings in 1981, the AC has grown into a diverse community of more than 500 talented members, including theatre artists of all types ranging from early-career beginners to experienced professionals. The Actors’ Center:

Help actors pursue their personal goals of excellence by offering workshops and other events designed to develop and hone skills. Foster positive relationships between members and producers, directors, casting directors, and other industry professionals. Connect members to performing arts opportunities and activities in the Washington, DC/Maryland/Virginia community.

  • Develop and maintain links with producers, directors, casting agents, and others in fields related to acting and connecting these industry professionals with our members.
  • Enrich the lives and enhance the careers of members by offering a close-knit community of industry professionals and opportunities for social networking.

Position Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and maintenance of the Actors’ Center office and website. The Operations Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Programming Coordinator, Development Coordinator, and Accountant in furtherance of the mission, vision, and goals of the Actors’ Center.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage the use, maintenance, and inventory of all facilities and equipment including the script library.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of facility operations.
  • Monitor customer feedback and satisfaction levels to identify areas for improvement and ensure a positive customer experience.

Provide general office administrative support as needed. Provide a high level of customer service to members and community stakeholders

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Reconcile monthly expense reports

  • Ensure that vendors are paid in a timely manner
  • Support the procurement process by ensuring the vendors are selected on the basis of competitive pricing and quality of services
  • Generate budgets for grant funded programs
  • Assist in the reporting process to funders

Maintain digital library of organizational documents Support the workshop training process by ensuring the instructors are provided with the needed resources to effectively facilitate their sessions

Follow up with instructors to ensure receipt of their honorarium Develop policies and procedures to ensure the attainment of the Standards for Nonprofit Excellence

  • Attend in person and virtual staff meetings, member meetings, etc.
  • Handle membership inquiries through the website
  • Maintain the website to ensure the member profiles are accurate and that members are able to access and navigate needed services to maximize their member experience and satisfaction.

Eligibility and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master of Arts Degree Preferred *Must have at least two years of experience in nonprofits, and/or operations management roles

Preference will be given to applicants who have worked for arts organizations and those who have project management skills Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays to support events

  • Strong knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace Suite, and membership management and website software

Strong critical thinking skills and proactive problem-solving ability Must have general knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals, procurement policies, budget generation and tracking skills

  • Demonstrated passion for the arts, positive attitude, sense of humor, and a commitment to creating a more equitable and just community

Compensation and Duration

  • $25.00 per hour for up to 15 hours per week
