The AES Corporation is Hiring a Human Resources Business Partner Near Arlington, VA

The HR Business Partner will report to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and be an important part of the HR team, in charge of creating and implementing people and talent strategies that help AES achieve its mission of accelerating the future of energy, together. The HR Business Partner will have proven skills in working with key leaders at AES’ global headquarters and around the world and translating business requirements into HR processes and systems that produce outcomes. The incumbent must have strong business sense and a readiness and capability to provide both strategic guidance and practical HR support to the businesses. As a supporter of AES values and culture, the HR Business Partner helps create the organizational culture and climate that enables the organization to succeed.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements people programs and policies
  • Uses talent tools and informs and completes critical talent actions
  • Guides the resolution of employee relations and labor relations issues or concerns, drawing on expertise and experience and often coaching others through the process
  • Advises, coaches and engages with leaders at all levels
  • Uses analytics to inform data-driven decisions and positive talent outcomes
  • In partnership with Workforce Planning team, informs & participates in the development & execution of workforce plans to inform how we will meet talent needs
  • Partners with HR Centers of Expertise and HR Services teams to develop and deliver solutions and programs
  • Develops a deep understanding of the talent market and leverages that knowledge to inform talent acquisition strategy
  • Promotes inclusivity and belonging; completes actions focused on improving diversity, equity & inclusion
  • Identifies needs and supports the development of people in the groups they supports
  • Promotes the completion of periodic and routine people processes – ensures leaders are using tools and resources to drive improved talent outcomes & a positive culture where people feel valued and respected, and have access to a meaningful career path
  • Acts as an ambassador of the AES brand and culture
  • Partners with communications to ensure timely, relevant, consumable communications

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 6 years in Human Resources, including ability to partner with the business leaders to develop solutions and drive positive outcomes
  • Experience within the energy industry preferred; or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required, MBA preferred
  • Strong communication skills – written, oral, interpersonal
  • Detail oriented with analytical problem-solving capabilities and critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter who deals well with ambiguity and change
  • Strong presence and confidence to engage directly, constructively, and with credibility with leaders at all levels
  • Change agent; identifies gaps, position solutions, and promote adoption and positive change
  • Successfully navigate between tactical and strategic objectives
  • Experience in developing and delivering HR programs
  • Solid understanding of the value each HR subject area brings
  • Handles confidentiality without exception
  • Builds networks of influence
  • Critical thinking and business sense to understand strategy and key financial and operational drivers and dynamics
  • Agility; ability to work at a fast pace and shift focus quickly
