Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Lead Parent Ambassador Specialist (LPAS) will support the daily coordination of the Parent Ambassador Program. The LPAS will be instrumental in providing programming to support Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) parents, increase their participation in on-site leadership teams and knowledge of educational rights related to Hayward Unified School District.

This programming which is funded by Alameda County’s Center for Healthy Schools and Communities (CHSC), supports Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) goals, initiatives, learning strategies, and collect and track data for the County in connection to wellness.

The LPAS will provide support to five Lead Parent Ambassadors, under LPAS guidance and professional development support the overall 30 Parent Ambassadors from HUSD schools from K-12. This includes, but not limited to planning and facilitating meetings, trainings, conducting site visits, and maintaining records and reports for the County. This role will uphold and champion the agency’s mission, vision, and values and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Parent Ambassador Mentorship

  • Participate in network meetings, according to La Familia’s solutions;
  • Participate and help plan and facilitate monthly Ambassador team and lead meetings;
  • Be knowledgeable of HUSD parent engagement groups, i.e. District English Learners Advisory Committee, African American Student Achievement Initiative, etc.;
  • Be an integral partner in the development of a vision for integrated district-wide family engagement.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule and conduct meetings with school site administrators and Ambassadors;
  • Supporting with Salesforce Data entry and help with reporting
  • Supports with logistics of Parent Ambassador meetings
  • Maintain a referral log documenting resources shared and provided to Ambassadors.

Contract Management

  • Network with HUSD and other community partners/ staff to support objectives of Parent Ambassador Program
  • Provides input and feedback on potential related projects/programs as appropriate
  • Collaborates on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
  • Serve as a liaison with all funders on all programmatic and operations issues.
  • Attend all funder-required meetings, events, and trainings.
  • Ensure delivery of program elements in compliance with contract language.
  • Submit all necessary documents and reports to funder by deadlines.
  • Work with supervisor and La Familia Administration to ensure appropriate contract expenditures.

Other

  • Network with HUSD and other community partners/ staff to support objectives of Parent Ambassador Program
  • Provides input and feedback on potential related projects/programs as appropriate
  • Collaborates on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
  • Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas
  • Leads and collaborate on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent, and 4 years of experience providing supportive services in the community, and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Sociology, or related field.
  • Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates and models excellent “customer service” orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
  • Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
  • Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
  • Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license
    • Auto insurance:  Personal vehicle may be used for business related purposes; it is recommended you inform your auto insurance carrier.
