We are looking for an experienced school nurse to join the Educational Learning Experience New Windsor site.

The school nurse’s primary responsibility will be to provide health services to preschool and school age (ages 3-21) students when they are at school. For example, you’ll treat injuries and mild to acute sicknesses, administer medications as per students prescriptions, and educate staff about the chronic conditions and related health care needs of the students, as well as, health and safety skills related to seizures, blood borne pathogens, etc. You’ll also help with preventive care by educating students on how to avoid communicable diseases and having proper hygiene.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate with children, their parents or guardians, teachers and school administrators. Responsibilities

• Minimum (1) year recent and verifiable nursing experience, preferred
• Willing to meet with and speak with students, their family, and their medical professionals
• Strong assessment and organizational skills
• Demonstrated successful track record of working independently
• Strong communication and computer skills

· · Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness

· · Ensure all student medical information is up to date and received prior to student entering school. This includes physicals and immunizations.

· · Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities

· · Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene

· · Keep track of students’ vaccination records and submit annual survey to NYS.

· · Update students’ medical history as needed.

· · Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)

· · Ensure compliance with national and local health laws

· · Participate in team meetings as needed.

· Qualifications

• Valid NYS Registered Nurse License
• School nursing Experience preferred
