The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region is Hiring a Summer Employment Coach (Seasonal) Near Aberdeen, MD

Summer Job Coach

The summer job coach will assist in the skill acquisition of both hard and soft skills while also allowing for hands on career exploration. The job coach will support students to complete targeted objectives as outlined in their Individualized work- based learning agreement and as agreed upon by the employer.

The student’s skill progression will be monitored and documented each shift by the job coach. The job coach will communicate with the employer and co-workers as needed and will facilitate creating natural support. The job coach will address needs that may arise and will seek guidance if needed.

The summer job coach will be responsible for modeling appropriate work behaviors and will support the student to learn skills such as but not limited to: time management, decision making, effective communication, adaptability, organization and teamwork.

Lastly, the Summer Job Coach man assist the Employment Services department where needed for coverage during the summer vacation season helping people supported with job training and retention or as a job coach to people receiving one-to-one services.

· Assist and support individuals in successfully completing Work based Learning Experience or retaining competitive, integrated employment.

Quality Team Members

· Must be flexible, reliable, and consistent in supporting the students through work-based learning experiences. Opportunities may be available in the evenings, on the weekends and weekdays.

· Ability to interact with individual, family members and employers in a professional manner.

· Ability to think creatively and problem solve.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified person with disabilities to perform essential functions of this position.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee (using approved agency lifting techniques) may be called upon to support and lift adults with developmental and other disabilities; transfer these people to and from wheelchairs; on and off toilet seats; and, in and out of vans or other vehicles. An employee in this position must be able to physically intervene (when appropriate and in an approved manner) to protect people from causing harm to themselves or others and to safely evacuate van/facility during an emergency. These duties may entail lifting/supporting/transferring 50 pounds on one or more occasions during the work shift.

Employees will regularly be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands (or hands and arms) to carry, finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; crouch and kneel. Employees will also be regularly required to hear (with or without hearing devices), see (with or without corrective lenses) and speak.

Education, Training and Experience:

High School diploma is required; Associates degree preferred.

Other Requirements

· Access to reliable transportation

· Active valid driver’s license and driving record that has no more than two (2) points.

· Must meet minimum required trainings to include CPR and First Aid.

· Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed
