We are looking for caring and dedicated individuals to join our team. Direct Support Professionals I (DSP I) work with our clients in our community centers and out in the community. Arc of Greater New Orleans works to secure for all people with intellectual disabilities opportunities to develop, function, and live to their fullest potential.Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for training, assisting and supervising participants to achieve independence in relation to their respective goals, objectives and activities. Responsible for recording and maintaining documentation of daily activities and programs in a confidential manner.Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PMPay: $10.50 ($10.60 after intro period), $11.00 ($11.15 after intro period) with Bachelor's DegreeEssential Functions:
  • Trains and supervises assigned participants (work/non-work, community access, volunteerism).
  • Assists in planning and developing methods and procedures for implementing individual programs.
  • Submits initial/annual assessments and meets regarding to an individual's programming/services.
  • Implements and documents outcomes and methods per ISP and/or Behavior Management.
  • Completes all service documentation (attendance, interaction, work/non-work activities).
  • Completes scheduled trainings and continued education.
  • Provides feedback in a confidential manner to participants and other appropriate individuals.
  • Advocates for all participants, as appropriate.
  • Transports participants to designated locations following all safety and transportation guidelines.
Requirements:
  • GED or High School Diploma preferred. 18 mos-2 years verified work experience in lieu of HS Diploma,
  • Previous experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • DSP exhibits qualities of emotional maturity, stability as well as human relation's skills.
  • Smart phone with data plan required.
  • Must have a valid LA driver's license.
