POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Supported Living (ADSL):Is a Full time Assistant Director level Leadership position responsible for support for participants enrolled in the Supported Living Program of The Arc of King County. This position serves on the

Supported Living Management team and works in close collaboration with the Director to develop, implement and manage agency staff and resources to successfully achieve desired agency outcomes.

Supports the agency’s efforts to undo institutional racism, build cultural competence, and serve an increasingly diverse population.

JOB SUMMARY

The main responsibilities of the ADSL are ensuring that all participants are supported in a manner that treats health and safety and quality of services as the first priority, and maximizes efficiency, productivity, and a harmonious working environment. Ensures that all contract terms are met, and that internal and external audits and evaluations are overseen to the highest standards. Ensures that corrective actions are taken when needed. Supports the Director with financial management for both the program budget as well as client finances ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures and practices are developed and implemented. Assures that staff are hired, trained, and evaluated to meet program contractual hours and requirements. Ensures that day to day policies and procedures, job descriptions, and mandated documentation is up to date and in compliance with agency and contract requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Effectively leads and manages the Participant Support Managers to meet the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Is personally acquainted with each individual receiving services and understands their service needs.
  • Expands participant services to meet growing need in the community.
  • Leads referral process and participant onboarding.
  • Assures that the residential service guidelines are upheld to the highest standards.
  • Understands the interplay between rate setting and participant service need. Monitors both to ensure they stay in line with each other.
  • Supports all auditing by external monitors.
  • Ensures that all manner of documentation is completed in the provision of services and the efficient functioning of the department.
  • Keeps current on policy changes and updates so organization is prepared for the beginning of the July fiscal year.
  • Works with the Director of Supported Living to respond to all complaints in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Monitors participants with significant or emerging medical and/or behavioral needs to ensure they are being served as benefits their needs. Also participates in any decision when medical and/or behavioral needs are too advanced to best be served by our program.
  • Provides COCA and Add-On Hours submissions in a timely manner as needed.
  • Routinely audits the Exhibit-C to ensure accurate support levels are achieved by program.
  • Oversees the RARs process, both those that are pending and those that are needed to support participants. Collaborates with Finance on RARs to manage department cost.
  • Participates in state and local planning to provide input where agency programs are impacted (ie: CRSA)
  • Knowledgeable about developments and trends in government policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision and evaluation of direct reports and able to motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage performance of direct reports, including conflict resolution.
  • Integrate anti-racism principles and cultural competence throughout scope of work

  • Ensures that coverage is shared by the team, preventing burn out or excessive hours for any one individual. On call support (second back up) for emergency cell phone during nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS Education

Bachelor degree in in the area of social work, psychology, special education or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • 2 years of increasing management and supervisory experience coordinating programs for people with I/DD
  • Meets ‘professional competencies’ as defined by agency
  • Has an understanding of the issues of parity, racism and urban living and how they impact the lives of persons with I/DD
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, social backgrounds, and disabilities
  • Ability to work in MS Office Suite and Washington State Security Communication system
  • ORa combination of education, experience and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position
  • Strength sufficient to: Lift 25lbs with or without accommodation
  • Ability to maintain prolonged sitting
  • Able to drive, navigate, and work throughout King County in a timely manner
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Presence in the Seattle office during the workweek with periodic weekend and evening hours
