The Arc of the United States is Hiring a Chapter Program Associate Near Washington, DC

Job Description

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Program and Chapter Team Associate provides general and administrative support to The Arc's National Program Initiative and Chapter Relations staff. The Arc's National Initiatives include criminal justice, education, employment, future planning, health, technology, travel, and volunteering. The Chapter Relations staff support our network of over 550 state and local chapters. The Chapter Program Associate assists, as needed, with meeting and training logistics, meeting facilitation and notetaking, record keeping, database management, reporting, and program evaluation.

The Chapter Program Associate may work across multiple subjects and teams, requiring excellent organization, multi-tasking, and communication skills. The position is hybrid - the successful candidate can split their time between remote and in-office work in Washington, DC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and facilitate in-person and online meetings.
  • Schedule and facilitate webinars for people with IDD, family members, chapter staff, and other professionals who support people with IDD.
  • Maintain and update electronic records, files and input data.
  • Gather and organize data, receipts, and narratives for reporting.
  • Monitor an online learning system and assist users, as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with team leads, chapter staff, and external partners, as needed.
  • Assist with website updates, email communications, and social media posts.
  • Research issues and contribute to drafting and editing educational resources.
  • Take meeting notes for various teams and committees
  • Coordinate the affiliation process for new chapters
  • Onboard new chapters
  • Assist with chapter affiliation fee administration and follow-up
  • Other tasks as assigned and within the scope of responsibility of the job.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services field, nonprofit management, business, public policy, pre-law, or related field preferred.
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience with demonstrated skill proficiency in program administration preferred.
  • Familiarity with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Proficiency in more than one language highly desirable
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills; driven and results oriented.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, online listservs, and social media.
  • Flexible and adapts well to change.

Benefits:

Competitive salary based on education and experience, range of $45,000 - $55,000; Health, Dental, Retirement, Life and AD&D, and LTD options; accrued vacation and sick leave.

About The Arc:

The Arc is the largest national community-based organization working with and for people with IDD and their families. The Arc supports people with IDD of all ages and varying support needs, including individuals with autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Intellectual Disability, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and various other developmental disabilities.

Many of The Arc's state and local chapters are engaged in both public policy advocacy and individual advocacy to assist people with IDD to get the services and supports they need. Other chapters provide a wide array of services and supports for people with IDD and their families. This varies by chapter and includes but is not limited to: education, employment, residential services, day programs, personal care, peer support, self-advocacy training, person-centered and future planning, recreational activities, and other supports that meet the unique needs of people with IDD in each community.
