The Arc of Union County, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c (3) organization headquartered in Springfield, NJ, dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc serves more than 1,000 adults andchildren each month from the 21 towns in Union County, as well as the greater Northern and Central NJ counties. The Arc of Union County Inc. is a leading provider of Person Centered services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Reporting to the Program Supervisor or designate, the Residential Support Professional provides a safe, secure, and dependable support and assistance in areas that are necessary for service recipients to achieve full social inclusion, independence, personal andeconomic well-being as approved by the Individual Service Plan (ISP). The Residential Support Professional focuses on improving the quality of life of service recipients. Provide assistance with activities of Daily Living, Increasing Community Participation, Increasing Independence, Safety Awareness and Learning Activities; Implement skill development, Behavior plans, IHP and other plans as developed and directed; Communicate professionally with Supervisors, co-workers, families, guardians, case managers and others as necessary; Complete all required documentation and administrative assignments as directed and in accordance with Agency standards and the Division of Developmental Disabilities;

ADA (to include but not limited to):This is an active role position which requires a minimum of 30% sitting, 40% walking/standing, 10% driving, 20% lifting and or moving Items. These roles will require staff to lift or transfer a minimum of 35 lbs during routine tasks. Ability to apply Agency Training Crisis Management Techniques when necessary consistent with criteria as trained; the techniques includes Punch Blocks, Kick Blocks, Bear Hug, Basket hold and Take Down.

Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Must be 18 years of age or older. Willing to learn or some familiarity, knowledge or experience in Social Supports Services/Individuals with developmental disabilities. Must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license with abstract (not exceeding 5 points), and ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
