The Arc, Oneida – Lewis Chapter is Hiring a Mental Health Program Coordinator Near Utica, NY

Our Employment Solutions Department is seeking a Mental Health Program Coordinator to join their team! In this role you will be responsible for the provision of employment supports to people with developmental disabilities to help them identify and meet their vocational needs, maximizing their independence and utilizing all of the resources in the community available to in the community to help them identify and meet their vocational needs, Responsible for the provision of employment supports to individuals with disabilities to help them identify and meet their vocational needs, maximizing their independence and utilizing all of the resources available to them in the community. The caseload will consist primarily of people with serious mental illness.
Responsibilities
  • Able to assess individuals with varying mental health disorders to develop and implement an employment plan which will include strategies to overcome barriers to employment and to appropriately match an individual's interest and abilities to a supported job by working closely with supports in plan development phase.
  • Perform job development/job retention activities, as necessary, to include, but not be limited to job assessments, job readiness skills training, work/life skills training. Teach the person how to access community supports to assist them with childcare, travel training, residential living and securing/managing supplemental benefits.
  • Develop relationships with local employers in the community in order to develop and/or maintain employment opportunities for people being supported.
  • Provide one on one job training and instruction on a job site to develop effective and constructive solutions to the challenges of work, model work appropriate attitudes and behaviors, develop/maintain natural supports on the job site. Works in partnership with all Employment Services Staff.
  • Act as an advocate both in and outside of the work site. Refer appropriately for any apparent community and family support needs to assist with maintaining job longevity.
  • Must maintain an updated and accurate case file on all people being served.
  • Maintains that the Employment Plan, Placement Report, Service Notes and all appropriate service documentation on the person is in compliance with Medicaid, OPWDD, OMH and/or ACCES VR Standards and that services were adequately provided in any billing period.
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of ACE Program Code 1380 and the MVPC Career Exploration Program which included monitoring units of services, productivity reports and payment reports.
  • Must be able to determine when to request for additional services such as but not limited to ACCES VR and MH Counseling in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Evaluate and/or monitor the occupational safety of the worksites where the person is employed. Participate cooperatively in staff meetings and assigned staff trainings.
Qualifications
  • Valid NYS Driver's license and must have a working vehicle and agree to transport individuals, as needed to work-sites.
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities (Or)
  • Associates Degree and a minimum of two years of experience working with people with disabilities (Or)
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of three years of experience working with people with disabilities
