We value all members of our team in a supportive environment in which everyone is treated with appreciation and respect and positioned to do their best work every day.SUMMARY: The Weinberg Park Heights JCC will be running weekly themed youth programming for children ages 6-10 years throughout the summer of 2024. Programs will run for girls on Mondays and boys on Wednesdays. Dinner will be served by the group Leaders at the latter part of the program.Under the supervision of the Park Heights Senior Director of Programs, the Group Leader is the primary caregiver for each participant assigned under their care. The Group Leader works with other staff members to carrying out activities in fun and engaging ways, and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Opportunity to use personal skills in a fun setting with wonderful staff perks.A Group Leader (or two depending on bunk size) will be in charge of all participant children if one group, or either the “bunk” of children ages 6-8 years or the “bunk” of children ages 8-10 years. Children participate in scheduled activities run either by an outside facilitator or the Group Leaders themselves through direction of PH Senior Director of Programs. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Working with other program staff members to set up, carry out, and clean up programs.Leading and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with JCC rules and prevent accidents.Ability to complete bunk reports (i.e., attendance, activity materials, etc.)Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring proper use of JCC facilities and equipment.Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to JCC staff.Participating in staff meetings, especially preparatory activity related ones. WHO YOU ARE:Minimum age: 15 yearsPossess an understanding of the Orthodox Jewish community and related customs. Ability to interact with all age levels.Understanding of the development needs of youth.Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.Demonstrated knowledge and skill in designated JCC program areas, or comfort in assisting these programs. Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to children and staff.Ability to observe participant children’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with staff at various levels, as well as outside partners, vendors, others.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to use a computer, is regularly required to talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch. Employee must have the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others.
