The AZEK Company is Hiring an EHS 6S Coordinator Near Wilmington, OH

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary objective of this role is to provide support to Return Polymers, Wilmington, OH recycling operations and facilities in Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) matters. The ESH/6S Coordinator plays a crucial role in establishing and upholding an effective ESH Management System to ensure regulatory compliance focusing on applicable environmental regulations and permits. This includes developing compliance programs, facilitating corrective actions, and addressing various ESH requirements within the organization. Strong problem-solving skills and experience are vital for success in this role.
Primary duties and responsibilities will be: (under the direction of Return Polymers ESH Manager)
  • Develop and maintain information systems focusing on environmental management and compliance recordkeeping.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the ESH Management System.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory environmental permits and requirements.
  • Manage external consultants, including overseeing proposals, work authorizations, invoices, and work quality.
  • Monitor compliance mechanisms and maintain relevant records.
  • Lead reviews and evaluations of complaints related to environmental concerns and safety issues.
  • Develop management tools and measurement systems to facilitate compliance and regulatory satisfaction.
  • Review permitting packages and revisions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile required regulatory and internal reports (annual, semiannual, quarterly, etc.).
  • Manage permitting programs and coordinate with external partners.
  • Perform internal and external ESH inspection and audits.
  • Collaborate with other departments on corrective actions and reported violations.
  • Provide ongoing support for regulatory inquiries.
  • Review development plans for compliance and permitting considerations.
  • Lead environmental due diligence efforts as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks related to ESH as assigned by team leadership.
We believe the successful candidate will have:
  • Two years of relevant work experience within the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) field.
  • A minimum of an associate degree in environmental sciences is preferred, but equivalent combinations of experience and education will also be considered.
  • Additionally, candidates may be required to possess other specific certificates or licenses, depending on the specific job requirements and industry standards.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Proficiency in comprehending, interpreting, and evaluating AZEK's organizational policies, regulations, rules, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrates consistent independent judgment and initiative within established procedures and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and permitting programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
  • Experience with 6S Lean in manufacturing.
  • Exemplary character and unwavering integrity.
  • Strong digital literacy, with a focus on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.

Success Measures:
  • Sixty (60) - Ninety (90) days:
    • Understand the processes at the facility and conduct hands on Job Safety Analysis of the basic machines.
    • Evaluate training requirements based on facility needs and OSHA required trainings. Keep trainings up to date based on the AZEK safety training calendar.
    • Have an understanding of the 6S program and requirements.
  • Six (6) Months:
    • Work with other site ESH groups in the Wilmington AZEK group to determine needs for environmental auditing and regulatory compliance. Develop needed checks with the consulting firm.
    • Complete timely audits and verify that the Recycle facility stays in compliance.
    • Increase the 6S audit scores within the facility by practicing good housekeeping and develop the 6S culture within the facility.
  • One (1) year:
    • Have a reduction of the recordable/days away incident metric by 50% by end of year.
    • Develop and lead a solid safety culture within the facility by working with all employees and site leadership.
    • Lead strong 6S continuous improvement events and facilitate the foot printing of all needed areas.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets.The annual salary for this position ranges from $63,500 in our lowest market up to $84,100 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
