Position Summary:

The Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting clients in finding and maintaining stable housing. This role involves assessing housing needs, providing counseling, and connecting clients with appropriate resources and services. The Housing Specialist works closely with property owners, housing agencies, and social service providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Client Assessment and Intake:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' housing needs and eligibility.
  • Develop individualized housing plans based on clients' needs, preferences, and available resources.
  • Maintain detailed client records and update them regularly.

• Housing Counseling and Support:

  • Provide counseling and education on tenant rights, responsibilities, and housing options.
  • Assist clients in completing housing applications and gathering necessary documentation.
  • Offer guidance on budgeting, financial literacy, and credit repair to support housing stability.

• Resource Coordination:

  • Collaborate with local housing authorities, non-profits, and social service agencies to identify and secure housing opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a network of landlords and property managers willing to work with the program.
  • Coordinate with other community resources to provide comprehensive support services, such as employment assistance, healthcare, and childcare.

• Case Management:

  • Provide ongoing case management to ensure clients remain housed and address any issues that arise.
  • Conduct home visits and regular check-ins to monitor client progress and well-being.
  • Advocate for clients in disputes with landlords or housing authorities as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing assistance, social services, or case management.
