The Jr. Buyer is an entry level role. The Jr. Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing products from suppliers, distributors, or manufacturers on behalf of Baker. The Jr. Buyer will work closely with the Buyer and the Supply Chain Manager, to ensure that they are making smart decisions about which products to buy, when and within pricing guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and develop supplier relationships.
• Negotiate prices and terms of sale with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Scheduling deliveries of inventory to ensure that items are received on time.
• Research new suppliers to find competitive rates for new products or services.
• Works with finance to resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Work on procurement projects as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
• Adhere to all safe work practices and contributes to the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.
• Identify and implement process and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager to maintain acceptable inventory levels.

• Make every effort to focus on doing it right to make sure the customer is happy or satisfied with our units.
• Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.

• Stock outage report.
• Vendor on-time delivery and quality reporting
• Cost savings and avoidance
• Purchase price variance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able sit/work on computer for extended periods of time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BS Degree preferred.
• Experience in the metal products or electronics industry a plus.
• Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Good communication abilities with internal and external customers.
• Willingness to learn business and supply chain strategies.
• ERP experience a plus
