Kennedy Krieger Institute is Hiring a Child Care Aide $500 Hiring Incentive (Early Childhood Development and Education Center-WORLD OF CARE) Near Baltimore, MD

Overview:

The Child Care Aide I works under the immediate direction of the Child Care Teacher in the child care center providing child care and completing related tasks. The incumbent functions as a team member in providing total care of the children enrolled at World of Care.

Must be able to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM 6:00 PM based on the needs of the center

World of Care (WOC) is a specialized childcare center designed to meet the needs of children with and without medical conditions and/or developmental disabilities. Our multidisciplinary team of early care and education teachers, nurses, early intervention therapist, and family support staff use a family-centered, play-based approach to early care and education. In addition to the skilled and nurturing team, the center has an array of adapted materials and equipment to ensure each child explores and learns alongside classroom friends.

While we accept typically developing children, priority for admission is given to children who are medically fragile or developmentally delayed or disabled.

World of Care is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education and licensed by the Maryland Office of Child Care Administration.

Responsibilities:
  1. Work as a team member to provide a warm and nurturing environment; model and encourage developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the WOC Handbook and Philosophy Checklist; and assist individual children and small groups with developmentally appropriate activities, classroom strategies, and therapy.
  2. Prepare and assist with daily care of infants and toddlers with personal hygiene, sleeping, mealtimes, and playing.
  3. Assist in daily maintenance of the environment and equipment, such as housekeeping, preparing art materials, preparing room decorations, and lunch and snack preparations.
  4. Communicate with all team members, including nurses and therapists as necessary, to assure that parents/caregivers are receiving all information regarding their childs daily progress, needs and concerns.
  5. Read each childs Child Care Plan before working with any child and ask for clarifying information as needed.
  6. Participate on at least one WOC program committee.
Qualifications:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM 6:00 PM based on the needs of the center
  2. Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and lift and carry children up to 35 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must complete the annual clock hours required by the Office of Child Care to advance or maintain childcare credentials.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED preferred or high school student in good standing.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience with children preferred.
