The Botanist is Hiring a QC/QA Supervisor Near East Syracuse, NY

Summary:

The Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible is responsible for managing and ensuring adherence to all quality control and assurance operations at NYCANNA’s Syracuse facility. The successful candidate will be a collaborative influencer – who is an effective communicator – possessing a passion for data, attention to detail and a willingness to continually learn and drive continuous improvement in order to consistently deliver high-quality products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct final inspections on all goods prior to shipment to ensure that they accurately and consistently meet quality standards as detailed in SOPs, specifically:
    • Thoroughly examine each product to ensure it meets the specified quality and compliance criteria before being released to customers.
    • Check that products are packaged according to the required specifications, including the type of packaging materials used and the arrangement of items within.
    • Confirm that labeling, including barcodes, product codes, expiration dates, ingredients, allergens, and other identifiers, is accurate and corresponds to the contents of each package.
    • Inspect for any defects, damage or irregularities in appearance, functionality, or packaging integrity.
    • Follow established inspection protocols and checklists to ensure consistency and accuracy in evaluations.
    • Document and report any identified issues or discrepancies for further investigation or resolution.
  • Use computer skills to input data, generate compliance and/or product labels, and update records in Microsoft Office and other internet applications
    • Update records, spreadsheets, or databases to track inventory levels, quality metrics, or shipping status accurately.
  • Performs a weekly physical count of all contents in the Finished Goods Vault and ensures alignment with electronic tracking system
  • Fully proficient in all aspects of final product packaging for the sole purpose of reviewing for accuracy prior to order fulfillment
  • Key role in weekly lab test sampling: gathers samples prior to arrival of testing lab at Syracuse and accompanies sampler to ensure quality standards are met in adherence with compliance
  • Assists with monthly inventory reporting - including hard counts of all packaging supplies and finished goods. Assists in quarterly counts of all building equipment, office supplies, etc.
  • Assists the Production Manager and Director of Production in the overall management, coordination, and supervision of key data tracking functions in the Production department including but not limited to: Monthly Roll Forward, All Production related spreadsheets
  • Reviews batch records for accuracy and completion, ensuring all relevant batch notes, weights, and relevant data are recorded. Enters information from batch records into digital format upon batch completion of products created.
  • Responsible for printing all compliance and packaging labels required for product creation – verifying them for accuracy and compliance standards, prior to releasing labels to final packaging team.
  • Communicates any issues or concerns to Operations management promptly
  • Collaborates with colleagues and team members to proactively address challenges, coordinate workflow, and/or implement improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related, regulated field – Required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work quickly but efficiently, while maintaining the integrity of the product.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and efficiently when handling larger items
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Repetitive motions and displays understanding of lab equipment.
  • Must wear company-provided lab coats, hair/beard nets, gloves, surgical masks and safety glasses/ goggles/ splash shield, while working in certain areas of building.
  • Must adhere to the Syracuse facility’s general hygiene requirements.
