The Branch Group is Hiring a PROJECT ACCOUNTANT Near Richmond, NY

Position Summary

Branch Group is looking for an organized, detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our well established, growing company. The Project Accountant is a resource for the subsidiary companies and is an extension and a part of the project teams. This position is responsible for the overall project accounting including Owner/Client billings, subcontractor billings and job costs.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Uploads project budgets, manages budget for project team.
  • Provides technical guidance to Project Managers to ensure budgets are revised throughout the project so that budget and projected costs are always aligned
  • Provides technical guidance to Project Managers to support analysis of costs compared to budgets.
  • Actively participates in the project buyout process, making recommendations as necessary
  • Manages project accounting, project budgets and all other applicable controls per standard operating procedure and policy
  • Posts and pays subcontractors timely and accurately, ensuring proper approvals and cost allocations
  • Processes monthly owner billings in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assists PMs with cost analysis, budget analysis, and reporting needs
  • Participates in project reviews as needed
  • Reviews contracts, change orders, subcontractor schedule of values and other project documents to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.

  • Maintains electronic records of all project accounting documentation (i.e., owner and subcontractor billing records, subcontractor invoices and lien waivers)
  • Submits accruals as needed to produce accurate financial statements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting preferred
  • Five or more years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of job cost accounting and understanding of accrual accounting
  • Detail oriented with exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Handles multiple tasks and projects at once and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, Power Point and Access)
  • Strong initiative, ownership, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Completes tasks/assignments/commitments in an accurate and timely manner

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40 hours per week.
