Overview

Transport patients to therapy sessions and assists therapists with patient care activities. Position is responsible to clean treatment areas and equipment and to restore and secure equipment and supplies at end of day.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from therapy treatment area and provides relief transport for other therapists as needed.
• Assist therapy staff in setting up patients for kinetic or tabletop activities.
• May assist in transferring patients in/out of wheelchairs.
• Clean treatment areas and equipment. Restores and secures equipment and supplies to cabinets.
• Checks therapy supplies and linens and reports to Supervisor when reordering is need. Picks up supplies when requested.
• May perform clerical duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Responsible for delivery of wheelchairs to newly admitted patients. Responsible for maintaining wheelchair records and retrieving wheelchairs and other equipment from patients’ rooms when discharged or transferred.
• May assist in treatment of adult and geriatric adult patient population.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Knowledge of methods for lifting and transporting injured patients.
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with patients.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions,
• Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
• Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to position and partially lift patients is required.
