We are currently seeking a local CLD Driver and Operator with a valid CDL License and experience operating heavy equipment to join our landscape and delivery team. Responsibilities/DutiesThe CDL Driver and Operator is responsible for the delivery and pick up of construction and plant material from company facilities to and from projects throughout Madison and surrounding areas. This includes picking up and loading materials from suppliers in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois; and inspecting, operating, and maintaining vehicles with a focus on safety and customer courtesy.
  • Organize and load/unload products, equipment, and material onto a truck for delivery to the applicable job site.
  • Secures loads to ensure safety during travel.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of delivery by load slip requests and at the direction of the Dispatcher.
  • Operates assigned vehicle (dump truck, flatbed, van, spider truck, tree spade, or tractor-trailer) safely and courteously in the Madison area, Southern Wisconsin, and/or Northern Illinois as applicable.
  • Operates other equipment such as loaders, skid steer, Bobcats, forklifts, etc. to load and unload equipment, material, and products for delivery.
  • Climbs in and out of vehicles to load/unload and/or secure loads for transport.
  • Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection vehicle inspections.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records that are requested from management.
  • Fuels and maintains the assigned vehicle(s).
  • Maintains accurate timekeeping and records of jobs or tasks in the timekeeping system as directed.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures such as attendance, conduct, and dress code.
  • Reports incidents or accidents promptly including completion of incident reports.
  • Performs snow removal during the winter months (may include operating a salt truck or equipment as well as shoveling, etc).
  • Maintains compliance with company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily performed outdoors during all seasons.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, heat or cold).
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection is required for duties such as equipment operation that expose the individual to elevated noise levels.
  • The duties of this position may expose the individual to chemicals and fertilizers.
Schedule
  • This is a Full-time seasonal position.
  • Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (40-55 hours per week) during our peak season (approximately April to November). Saturday hours as needed.
  • Hours vary in winter months (approximately December through March) based on snow removal.
  • Overtime may be required as workload dictates.
Skills You Need?
  • A valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with good driving record is required.
  • Current federal DOT medical card.
  • Previous equipment (loader, bobcat, skid steer, forklift) experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions, navigate, and read a map.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Being bilingual in Spanish and English is helpful.
