The Bush School, a K-12 progressive, independent school located in Seattle, WA, is in search of an individual to join our Admissions team as an Admissions Event and Volunteer Assistant. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. This is an Academic Year, hourly/non-exempt position that is scheduled to work 20 - 30 hours per week during the school’s academic year calendar, which excludes school-observed holidays and most school-observed breaks, as this position is scheduled to work during mid-winter break in February. This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. The school’s Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid supervises and sets priorities, timelines and project deadlines for the Admissions Event and Volunteer Assistant. While experience is important, the ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset, customer service orientation, attention to detail, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a flexible, yet demanding work environment and believe wholeheartedly in the mission and values of The Bush School.
The Bush School’s K-12 admissions calendar includes divisional open house events, school fairs, student visits, campus tours, general recruiting events, student assessments, admissions committee meetings, decision week events, and new family welcome events, as well as off-season events. This position provides support for these events along with a robust admissions team. The weekly schedule for the Admissions Event and Volunteer Assistant will vary depending on the time and day of the week of various events.
While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to execute on the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
  • Be a positive and contributing member of a dynamic, customer-service oriented Admissions Team
  • Support a robust K-12 admissions program
  • Coordinate general event management for all K-12 admissions events and off-season all-school events
  • Coordinate all volunteers for admissions and off-season all-school events
  • Plan for engaging in-person and virtual events
  • Be responsible for pre-event logistics, volunteer coordination, as well as day of event set-up, registration, general support, and take down.
Experience and Professional Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience in event and/or volunteer coordination is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, organized, punctual, and attention to detail; Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.
  • Experience working with databases; Knowledge of databases (Blackbaud), application platforms (Ravenna, School and Student Services), and email communication platforms (MailChimp, Microsoft Outlook) a plus.
  • Fluency in Google Drive and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Spanish fluency in speaking, reading, and writing a plus.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as required.

  • Maintain a strong work ethic and attention to detail, with high standards of professionalism, organization, punctuality, confidentiality
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be highly proficient with Google Drive and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Maintain a willingness to assume additional responsibilities, as required
  • Be willing to work some weekends and evenings
Additional Requirements:
  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date).
  • Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings.

Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:
  • Compensation Range (Hourly Rate of Pay): $28.00 - 29.12/hour
