The California State University is Hiring a Receiving clerk Near Long Beach, CA

Job Summary

This position supports support the Receiving & Mail Services department by receiving, checking / verifying, handling, sorting, logging, and delivering mail and shipments to the University.

It also assists with the training and supervision of student workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving, staging / sorting, metering, delivering of shipments : Receives shipments (packages, mail, overnight deliveries, perishables, to campus from vendors and USPS utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Customer Service : Verifies receipts for insured, certified, and registered mail and looks up shipments / mail to ensure proper sorting / staging.
  • Assist with toner recycling program, e-waste, and other sustainability related projects.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of methods, practices and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing and shipping of materials and mail.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse in the performance of work involving the receipt, storage, and issuance of a variety of supplies, material, and equipment required.

Physical Summary

Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range : The hiring range for this position is $3,505- $3,680 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range : The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,505 - $5,577 per month.

Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
